Fluid Space
The Pavillion has a flexible structure constructed with tubes and tendons. Tubes in four different length are connected to each other with continuous elastic tendons and create a irregular space frame which gets covered with a flexible membrane. The elastic tendons allow the building structure to be transformed. The pavilion’s motion happens in interaction with the sun. The sun’s energy activates shape memory springs that create a shape-shift by putting and releasing tension to the system. The boundaries change and the space gets dynamic. The impression of a skin and bone architecture is created. The project was designed in the context of a competition and part of the exhibition at the Deutsches Architektur Museum.
2011 designed at HfG Offenbach assisted by Prof. Holzbach.
